What are erotic books?

Erotic books, in this collection, means two very different things that share a shelf. The first is adult coloring books: tongue-in-cheek line drawings of bodies, toys and parody scenes that you color in yourself, which have become a staple of bachelorette parties and gag gifts. The second is practical sex education, in the form of Dr. Sadie Allison's illustrated guides to toys, techniques and positions. Both are made for adults, and both are a lot more fun than the covers of most sex manuals suggest.

Types of erotic books

Porn parody coloring books

WoodRocket's signature style: coloring pages that spoof familiar films and sitcoms with an adult twist, such as the Sexfeld and Porn Parody books. They lean on humor and make easy party entertainment.

Themed body and fetish coloring books

Titles built around a single subject: anal sex, breasts, bottoms, fetishes, or gay and lesbian scenes. Each is a stack of detailed drawings waiting for your own color choices, and the themes let you pick one that suits the recipient.

Novelty and trippy coloring books

Not every WoodRocket book is about sex. Several are psychedelic or cannabis-themed, with swirling patterns and smoke-shop humor, and sit here because they share the same adults-only, nothing-is-sacred spirit.

Dr. Sadie Allison sex guides

Short, illustrated paperbacks that each tackle one topic in plain English: choosing and using sex toys, oral pleasure for him, self-pleasure for her, anal play for everybody, the clitoris, and sex positions. They are the practical half of the collection; see the full set in Dr. Sadie Books.

How to choose erotic books

Decide whether you want a laugh, a gift or genuinely useful advice, then match the book to the reader.

• Purpose: coloring books suit parties, stocking fillers and desk pranks; the guides suit anyone who wants to learn something new.
• Audience: check the theme against the recipient's sense of humor; a fetish or anal-themed book lands differently from a trippy pattern book.
• Topic: within the Dr. Sadie series, pick the guide that matches what you are curious about, from toys to positions to anal play.
• Explicitness: all of these are adults-only, but some coloring titles are far more graphic than others; read the title and description before gifting.
• Pairing: a guide alongside a first toy makes a thoughtful starter bundle.

How to use and care for erotic books

Coloring books reward decent supplies and a flat surface; guides reward being read together. A few practical notes:

• Use colored pencils or fine markers; thick markers can bleed through to the page behind, so slip a spare sheet underneath.
• Finished pages make good party games, cards or framed jokes.
• Read a Dr. Sadie guide with your partner and mark the pages you both want to try, then keep it on the nightstand rather than the bookshelf.
• Keep the books dry and away from any lube or massage oil, which will stain paper.

Erotic books for couples, parties and beginners

For a bachelorette or birthday, a stack of parody coloring books and a pack of pencils keeps a room laughing for an hour. For couples, a positions guide or the toy handbook offers low-pressure ideas you can explore at your own pace, and pairs naturally with a first vibrator. If you are curious about anal play, the Tickle My Tush guide walks through it gently, and our anal toys collection has beginner sizes. Complete beginners may find a book is the least intimidating place to start.
