Corsets & Bustiers

What are corsets and bustiers?

A corset is a structured garment that laces or hooks closed around the torso, using boning to pull in the waist and support the bust. A bustier is its lighter cousin: shorter, less rigid, and usually worn as lingerie rather than for shaping. This collection stretches the idea a little further. Alongside true corsets in satin and leather, it includes corset-shaped strap-on harnesses, where the laced bodice is really a way of holding a dildo securely, and a few corset-style accessories. All of it belongs to the broader world of lingerie and dress-up.

Types of corsets and bustiers

Steel-boned satin corsets

Leg Avenue's satin corsets use steel boning, a full busk front closure and a lace-up back. These are proper waist-cinching garments that hold their shape.

Leather corsets

Rouge's leather corsets bring a heavier, fetish-leaning look. Leather molds to the body with wear and pairs naturally with cuffs, collars and other restraints.

Lace-up corset lingerie sets

Lighter pieces designed for the bedroom rather than for shaping, such as the Master Series Scarlet Seduction corset and thong, the Barely Bare lace and mesh teddy and Leg Avenue's Poison Temptress halter with corset lacing. They give the silhouette without the structure.

Corset strap-on harnesses

The largest group here. Sportsheets' Corsette line, Strap U's Bodice harnesses, the Vac-U-Lock Platinum corset and Lux Fetish's velvet corset harness are wearable bodices with an O-ring or plug to hold a dildo. They flatter the waist while doing the practical work of a harness.

Corset-style accessories

Scandal's corset cuffs and lace hood and the Sincerely lace corset arm cuffs borrow corset lacing for smaller pieces, so you can add the look to wrists or face without a full garment.

How to choose corsets and bustiers

Work out the job first, then the fit, then the fabric.

• Purpose: a shaping corset needs boning and a busk; bedroom lingerie can be soft and stretchy; a harness needs a secure ring and adjustable straps.
• Sizing: measure your waist and underbust and compare with the size chart; steel-boned corsets are usually chosen a few inches smaller than your natural waist, while harnesses rely on adjustable straps.
• Closure: a front busk makes a corset easy to put on alone; lace-up-only backs need a helper or practice.
• Material: satin is smooth and dressy, leather is bold and durable, lace and mesh are light and comfortable for all-evening wear.
• Harness details: check the O-ring size against your dildo's base and look for a design your body shape finds comfortable.

How to use and care for corsets and bustiers

Put a corset on loosely, fasten the busk, then tighten the laces gradually from the top and bottom toward the waist. Breathe normally; if you cannot, loosen it. Break in a steel-boned corset over several short wears before cinching tightly.

• Spot-clean satin and lace with a damp cloth and mild soap; do not machine wash a boned corset.
• Wipe leather with a damp cloth and condition it occasionally so it stays supple.
• Hand-wash harness fabric after use, remove any dildo or plug first, and let everything air-dry completely.
• Store corsets flat or rolled with the laces loosened, never folded sharply across the boning.
• Never sleep in a corset, and take it off straight away if you feel faint, numb or short of breath.

Corsets and bustiers for couples, beginners and dress-up

A corset is a centerpiece garment, which makes it a favorite for anniversaries, role play and boudoir photos. If you are new to shapewear, start with a lace-up lingerie set or a soft corset-style harness rather than a steel-boned piece, and see our beginner collection for other low-pressure ideas. For couples exploring strap-on play, a corset harness blends lingerie and function so the wearer feels dressed up rather than strapped in. Pair it with a dildo that fits the ring and plenty of lubricant.
