Butt Plugs

What are butt plugs?

Butt plugs are toys designed for anal play, with a tapered tip, a wider middle and a narrow neck that ends in a flared base. That base helps keep the toy from slipping too far, which is why it matters. Butt plugs are used by people of all genders for solo or partnered play. Tokyo Valentino carries top brands, shows in-stock items first, ships free over $59 and uses discreet packaging.

Types of butt plugs

Starter and small plugs

Slim, tapered designs that are popular for a first try. Our beginner collection may help you compare.

Vibrating plugs

These include a motor for added sensation, often with a remote or several settings.

Non-vibrating plugs

Simple, solid designs in silicone, glass or metal. Browse non-vibrating butt plugs if you prefer less to charge or clean.

Larger plugs

Wider designs intended for people who are experienced and comfortable with anal play. See large butt plugs.

Jewelled or decorative plugs

Plugs with a decorative base, such as a gem. They are usually still designed with a safe flared base.

How to choose a butt plug

• Flared base: essential. Never use a toy for anal play unless it has a flared base or wide handle.
• Material: body-safe silicone is soft and flexible. Glass, stainless steel and similar hard materials are non-porous but firm, so go slowly.
• Size: start small and check the width and insertable length. It is fine to build up slowly over time.
• Power: if you choose a vibrating plug, rechargeable models are convenient, and battery models can be easy to replace.
• Noise: motors vary, so check the details if quiet use matters; a simple design is just as valid as a feature-rich one.

How to use and care for your butt plug

Relax, go slowly and use plenty of lubricant, as the body does not produce its own. Choose anal lubricants, which tend to be thicker and longer lasting. Avoid silicone lube on silicone toys, as it can damage the surface, and do not use numbing products, which can mask pain.

• Condoms: a fresh condom makes clean-up easier and is a good idea if sharing a toy.
• Cleaning: wash with warm water and mild unscented soap or toy cleaner before and after each use. See anal care products for dedicated cleaners and hygiene items.
• Storage: dry fully and store in a clean pouch, away from other toys.

Safety

Never move a toy from anal play to other body areas without washing it or changing the condom. Do not wear a plug for long periods, and stop if you feel sharp pain or notice bleeding. Speak with a healthcare professional about any pain, injury or medical question.

Tips for first-time use

Choose a time when you feel relaxed and unhurried. Warm up with gentle touch, use lubricant on both the toy and your body, and breathe slowly as you ease the tip in. If you feel resistance, pause rather than push. Anal play should never be painful, and you can always remove the toy and try again another day. Many people find that going slowly with a smaller size is the easiest way to learn what feels comfortable. Keep a clean towel and your cleaning supplies nearby so you can tidy up without rushing, and remember that every body is different.
