Non-Vibrating Butt Plugs

What are non-vibrating butt plugs?

A butt plug is a tapered toy with a narrow tip, a wider body and a slim neck that lets the anus close around it, so it stays put while you wear it. Non-vibrating plugs have no motor and no battery: they are quiet, simple and often the first anal toy people buy. This collection runs from petite silicone starter plugs and graduated training kits to gem, tailed, glass and stainless steel designs, plus a few plugs joined to a cock ring, for people who already know what they like.

Types of non-vibrating butt plugs

Beginner and training plugs

Slim, smooth silicone plugs with a gentle taper, often sold as a kit of graduated sizes so you can work up gradually, such as the Booty Call trainer kit or the Luxe beginner kit. These are the sensible starting point; see beginner butt plugs for the full selection.

Jewelled and gem plugs

A smooth plug with a decorative gem set into the base, from Booty Sparks, Rear Assets and Glams, sometimes in rose gold or multicolour finishes and heart shapes. They are as much about the look as the feel. Browse jeweled butt plugs.

Tail plugs

A silicone plug with a soft tail attached to the base, such as the Cottontails bunny tail plugs, popular for roleplay and dressing up. Choose by plug size first and tail style second. More under tail butt plugs.

Glass plugs

Glas and Icicles make smooth, firm glass plugs that are easy to clean and can be warmed or cooled in water for temperature play. Glass is rigid, so go slowly and use plenty of lubricant. See glass butt plugs.

Steel and larger plugs

A smaller group of stainless steel and metal plugs, including bejeweled starter plugs, offers a heavier feel. Larger silicone plugs from Anal Adventures, Colt and Master Series suit experienced users who want more fullness.

How to choose a butt plug

Size and base shape matter more than anything else. Start smaller than you think and always insist on a flared base.

• Flared base: Non-negotiable. The base must be clearly wider than the neck so the plug cannot travel inward. A T-bar or heart base is comfortable for wearing under clothes.
• Size: Judge by the widest point of the body, not the length. Beginners should start with a slim plug or the smallest piece in a training kit.
• Material: Silicone is soft, forgiving and easy to clean. Glass is smooth and firm. Stainless steel is heavier and holds warmth or cold. Avoid porous or jelly materials for anything anal.
• Texture: Smooth bodies insert easily. Ripples, beads and bulbs add sensation but ask more of the body.
• Wear time: A slim neck and a flat base make a plug more comfortable for longer wear.

How to use and care for butt plugs

Use plenty of water-based lubricant: the anus does not lubricate itself, and water-based formulas are safe with silicone. Go slowly, breathe, and stop if anything hurts.

• Wash before and after every use with warm water and a mild toy cleaner; glass, steel and silicone can all be cleaned thoroughly.
• Never move a toy from anus to vagina without washing it first.
• Do not wear a plug for very long periods, and take it out if you feel numbness or sharp discomfort.
• Check glass plugs for chips or cracks before each use, and store silicone plugs separately so they do not react with other silicone toys.

Butt plugs for beginners and couples

If you are new to anal play, a small smooth silicone plug or a graduated training kit is the right first purchase, used with lots of lubricant and no hurry. Couples often use plugs during penetrative sex for added fullness, or choose a jewelled or tailed design for its look. When you are ready for motion, the vibrating butt plugs collection adds a motor to the same shapes.
