Kegel Balls

Kegel balls are small weighted balls worn internally to give your pelvic floor muscles something to squeeze and hold. This collection ranges from simple single and duo weights with retrieval cords to silicone trainer kits and rechargeable vibrating balls with remote controls.

New to kegel balls? Start with a lighter, larger single ball in silicone; it is easier to hold in place and simpler to remove than a heavy steel pair.

What are kegel balls?

Kegel balls, sometimes called Ben Wa balls or love balls, are small weighted spheres worn inside the vagina. Holding them in place makes the pelvic floor muscles contract, which turns a passive wear session into a workout. Many designs link two balls on a flexible silicone body with a retrieval cord, while others are a single ball or a kit of graded weights. Our kegel trainers collection gathers the kit-style sets if you want a structured progression.

Types of kegel balls

Weighted single and duo balls

The simplest style: one or two weighted balls, often with an inner weight that shifts as you move, and a cord or loop for removal. First Time, Evolved and the house Kegel range cover this group at entry-level prices.

Silicone trainer kits

Smooth silicone shells in a set of increasing weights, such as the Fun Factory Smartballs Uno and Duo or the Cocolicious trainer. You begin with the lightest and move up as your muscles get used to holding them.

Vibrating and remote-control kegel balls

Rechargeable silicone balls with a motor inside and a remote, from Playboy, Touch and Remote Controlled Vibes among others. The vibration adds pleasure to the exercise and, for couples, hands control to a partner. The Honey Play Box Puff adds app control and inflation, and the Impulse Intimate sets add gentle electro-stimulation. See more in vibrating kegel balls and trainers.

Steel and glass kegel balls

Stainless steel and glass balls are heavier for their size, completely smooth and easy to clean. The Sex and Mischief Steele Balls and the Glas kegel set are examples; they are better suited to experienced users who already hold lighter weights with ease.

How to choose kegel balls

Weight, size and material make the biggest difference to how easy a set is to use.

  • Weight: start light. A heavier ball is harder to hold and can slip out quickly, which is discouraging rather than useful.
  • Size: larger, lighter balls are easier to keep in place; smaller, denser balls are a step up once you are comfortable.
  • Single or duo: a single ball is the gentlest introduction; a linked pair gives more movement and more to grip.
  • Retrieval cord: choose a design with a silicone cord or loop so removal is simple, especially for first-time users.
  • Extras: vibration, remotes and apps add fun but also cost and charging; decide whether you want a trainer or a toy that doubles as one.

How to use and care for kegel balls

Apply a little water-based lubricant to the balls, insert them while lying down or standing with one foot raised, and leave the cord outside the body. Try a short wear time first, standing and walking around, and build up gradually.

  • Wash before and after every use with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner; dry fully before storing.
  • Keep to water-based lube for silicone balls; silicone lube can damage a silicone surface.
  • Do not wear them overnight or for very long stretches, and remove them if you feel any aching or discomfort.
  • Check cords and seams regularly, and retire any set that is cracked or peeling.
  • If you are pregnant, recently gave birth or have a pelvic health condition, check with a healthcare professional first.

Kegel balls for beginners and couples

Beginners do well with a light silicone single ball or a two-step trainer kit: they are forgiving, easy to remove and let you feel progress without strain. Browse our beginner picks for more gentle starting points. Couples often choose a vibrating remote-control set, which turns an exercise routine into shared play, whether at home or on an evening out. Whatever you pick, go slowly, listen to your body and stop if anything hurts.

FAQs

Kegel Balls: frequently asked questions

How do I start using kegel balls?

Choose a light, larger ball with a retrieval cord, add water-based lube and insert it while relaxed, leaving the cord outside. Wear it for a short time while standing or walking, then remove it. Increase the time and weight gradually over weeks, not days.

Can kegel balls fall out?

They can if the weight is too heavy for your current strength or if you are very relaxed. That is a sign to go lighter, not to push through. Larger silicone balls are easier to hold than small dense steel ones, which is why they suit beginners.

How do I clean kegel balls?

Wash them in warm water with mild soap or a toy cleaner before and after each use, paying attention to seams and the cord. Rinse, dry completely and store in a pouch. For vibrating sets, keep the charging port dry and check the product page before submerging.

Are vibrating kegel balls different from regular ones?

Yes. Vibrating sets have a motor inside and usually a remote control, so they add stimulation and can be shared with a partner. They still work as weights but are more of a toy than a pure trainer. Regular balls are simpler, cost less and have nothing to charge.

How long should I wear kegel balls?

Start with a short session, roughly the length of a few household tasks, and remove them afterwards. Many people work up to longer wear over time, but they are not meant to be left in overnight. Take them out straight away if you feel aching, pinching or any discomfort.
