What are anal probes?

An anal probe is a long, narrow toy made for insertion and gradual exploration, as opposed to a plug, which is designed to stay put. Most probes here are silicone, and the majority are rechargeable with vibration; some add thrusting, rotation or gyration, and a few light up or pair with an app. Their slim profile makes them one of the more approachable entries in the anal toys range, and many are curved to reach the prostate.

Types of anal probes

Slim and tapered probes

Designs such as the Lavender Haze Slender Probe, the CalExotics Connect tapered probe and the Rechargeable Curved Silicone Anal Probe start narrow and widen gently, so you control depth and stretch. These are the usual first recommendation.

Beaded and ribbed probes

Admiral, First Time, Twisted Love and the Rock Bottom Bendy Beaded Probe use a string of bulbs or ridges that deliver sensation on the way in and out. They overlap with anal beads but are more rigid and easier to guide.

Vibrating, thrusting and rotating probes

Rock Bottom, Ramrod and Fort Troff supply the powered end of the range: rumbling vibration, thrusting shafts, rotating beads and remote controls. These are intense and best once you know a manual probe suits you. The wider anal vibrators collection has similar toys.

Trainer sets and advanced probes

Ram's numbered Anal Trainer probes step up in girth so you can progress over weeks, while the b-Vibe fisting trainer and Zero Tolerance Everest are large, experienced-user pieces. Our anal trainers and kits collection groups graduated sets.

How to choose an anal probe

Match the probe to your experience and to the sensation you are after.

• Girth first: Length matters less than width. Begin with something no thicker than a finger or two and move up gradually.
• Flared base or handle: Essential for anything inserted anally. A ring, T-bar or wide flare keeps the probe retrievable.
• Flexibility: Bendable probes like Rock Bottom Bendies follow the body's curve; rigid probes give more precise pressure on the prostate.
• Power: Rechargeable vibration is a comfortable middle ground. Thrusting and rotating motors add intensity, noise and price.
• Material: Choose silicone or stainless steel, which are non-porous and easy to clean. Avoid unlabelled jelly or rubber.

How to use and care for anal probes

Relax, warm up with a finger, and use a generous amount of water-based anal lubricant. Insert slowly, pause when you feel resistance, and let your body set the pace. Stop if anything hurts.

• Use water-based lube with silicone probes; silicone lube can damage the surface.
• Wash before and after use with warm water and a toy cleaner, taking care around beads and ridges.
• Keep charging ports dry and let the toy dry fully before storing.
• Never move a toy from anal to vaginal use without washing it or changing a condom over it.
• Store in a pouch away from other toys.

Anal probes for beginners, prostate play and couples

If you are new to anal play, a slim, flexible vibrating probe with a flared base is a gentle introduction, and a numbered trainer set lets you progress at your own pace. For prostate play, look for a curved tip and firm vibration. Couples often enjoy remote or app-controlled probes so one partner controls the pattern while the other relaxes. The combined anal hooks and probes collection adds stainless steel options for bondage scenes.
